Hi, I'm John.
Originally from Wayland, Massachusetts, now at Berkeley Haas after five years advising institutional investors on private markets at Cambridge Associates. I'm hoping to move from advising to leading strategic initiatives at a company making real impact.

Background
At Cambridge Associates, I advised pension plans and family offices on private markets. Alongside client work, I helped shape Cambridge's internal tools, translating user feedback into product priorities and driving adoption across the pension practice.
At Haas, I'm a Berkeley SkyDeck Venture Fellow and a board fellow with City of Dreams, a youth mentorship non-profit. I also build things: a portfolio analytics platform, a meal-planning app, and study tools my classmates use.

Let's talk
I'm looking to move from advising to leading strategic initiatives. If your team is working on something that matters, I'd like to hear about it.
Experience
Cambridge Associates · Boston, MA
Summer 2020 – May 2026Global investment consulting and Outsourced CIO firm advising ~$670B for large institutional and family clients
Associate Investment Director, Private Investments (2025–2026); Senior Investment Associate & Team Leader (2024–2025); Investment Associate (2023–2024); Investment Analyst (2021–2023) & Summer Analyst (2020)
Quantitative Analysis & Strategic Decision Making
- Led and synthesized onsite interviews, executive reference calls, and portfolio analysis across 30+ private market fund due diligence processes, informing ~$4.2B in client capital allocation decisions over 5 years
- Guided a family office's strategic expansion into private investment (~$50M), targeting a long-term asset allocation shift from 10% to 50% through high-conviction fund research and multi-year commitment planning
- Built and scoped a scenario-based Excel model to stress-test 10 asset allocation structures under varied return assumptions, equipping Senior Directors on Cambridge's largest client (~$400B AUM) with the analysis informing a potential ~5% private market allocation shift into secondaries
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Product Strategy
- Partnered with engineering to translate user feedback into product feature priorities for Iris, a document-processing and data automation platform; led practice-wide demos to drive adoption and sunset fragmented, legacy workflows ahead of a full firm-wide rollout
- Collaborated with the MD of Tech Solutions as a super user to refine CA's build on top of iLevel (a portfolio-monitoring and management platform), identifying UX friction and feature gaps across 4 client beta pilots and helping roll it out to CA's largest client accounts
Executive Communication & Influence
- Co-presented a liquidity pacing model alongside the Head of Private Investments to ~40 LPs at an industry summit, fielding questions and adapting inputs live, ultimately generating 2 prospective client leads
- Served as lead tech presenter alongside senior leadership across 5 multi-million-dollar pension finalist pitches, running platform walk-throughs and fielding live technical Q&A in each competitive evaluation
- Independently led a director-level Investment Committee for a ~$150M family office while covering for the lead MD, presenting portfolio performance and securing approval for 2 new investment recommendations
Leadership & Team Development
- Bridged senior and junior colleagues across 8 client strategy reviews, moving 100+ page decks from 20–30 Box versions per cycle to a single live Microsoft Teams workspace, eliminating hours of manual version reconciliation
- Anchored a ~$200B+ pension client ($40B+ in alternatives) through 3 consecutive analyst departures, acting as the sole junior contributor for ~2 months while training each new hire, including one more senior than myself
- Developed and led onboarding sessions for 60–80 global associates annually; formally mentored 8 analysts
- Revived and co-led CA's Boston Service Council from ~5 to 30+ members, partnering with 5+ non-profits
- Co-organized CAMPP, a selective 5-day intensive training introducing undergrads to private investments
Income Research & Management · Boston, MA
Summer 2019Summer Associate
- Assessed credit quality and relative value of investment-grade home improvement companies; analyzed and ranked firms by sector using key ESG factors to identify leaders and laggards
- Wrote and shared company-wide macroeconomic evaluations to assist analysts

Things I've built
Side projects where I spotted a problem, made the product calls, and built the solution.
MyTR
Beta targeting Fall 2026A personal investment analytics platform that brings the process transparency institutions expect to an individual's own portfolio.
- Role Founder & developer
- Since May 2026
- Stack Python, Streamlit, Supabase, Plaid
The problem
Consumer trackers show balances and returns. They don't show how your decisions performed against a fair benchmark, or what you actually own inside your funds.
The insight
After five years on the institutional side, I wanted the same standard for a personal portfolio: process transparency, not just returns. I scoped it against Empower, Snowball Analytics and Kubera to find where that gap was widest.
What's next
The beta is targeting Fall 2026. The roadmap includes deeper risk and attribution analysis and rebalancing drift monitoring.
The demo runs on sample data, not real accounts.
Our Cookbook
Read-only showcaseA household recipe and weekly meal-planning app that helps us stay organized around all things food at home.
- Reach Shared with a few friends
- Built With AI
The problem
Our recipes lived everywhere: Instagram reels, food blogs, cookbook pages. Planning the week meant digging through all of it, then writing a grocery list by hand.
The insight
The real job isn't storing recipes. It's deciding what to cook this week and shopping once, so the app is built around the week, not the recipe box.
What I built
- Recipe library with filters for time, cost per person and how healthy each dish is
- Weekly plan that pairs meals sharing ingredients and builds an aisle-grouped grocery list
- Servings scaler and light and dark modes
- AI import in the live app, from a caption, link or photo of a dish
What's next
A multi-user version, so friends and family can start their own cookbooks and follow each other's.

Each recipe links to its original creator for the full method.
Haas Cohort Study Tool
Shipped Fall 2026A set of adaptive course trainers, built solo with AI and adopted by about 50 classmates across cohorts by word of mouth.
- Users ~50 classmates
- Growth Word of mouth
- Built Solo, with AI
The problem
Exam prep across my cohort was scattered across slides, notes and old problem sets, with no easy way to tell what you actually knew. The practice material didn't match how the exams were scored.
What I built
- Adaptive quizzes that lean into your weakest topics
- Readiness dial and mastery bars, where breadth counts
- Flashcards and a timed mock exam in the real exam's format
The result
It started with my own cohort and spread to other cohorts by word of mouth, reaching about 50 classmates.
